HARLEM — Councilwoman Inez Dickens has been fined $3,500 for violation election fundraising laws, according to the city’s Campaign Finance Board.

In a report released Thursday, the board said Dickens accepted over-the-limit contributions and money from corporations during her 2013 campaign.

Dickens accepted contributions that exceeded the $2,750 limit three times, totaling $990 over the limit. She also exceeded the $250 limit of “doing business” contributions seven times, accepting $1,540 more than what was allowed, according to the NYCCFB.

"Doing Business" contributions are from "individuals associated with entities doing business with city government,” according to the NYCCFB.

When it came to accepting money from corporations and LLCs, Dickens accepted $100 from 103 East 125th St. Realty Corp. and $100 from cosmetic company Seven Brown.

Dickens refunded the money after the violations were uncovered, according to the NYCCFB

Other violations included filing a late disclosure statement, failing to document transactions, and late responses to audit and information requests.

The councilwoman’s office did not respond to questions about the violations.
