MIDTOWN EAST — A teen thief threatened to shove an off-duty NYPD officer onto the subway tracks when he stepped in to foil an attempted cellphone robbery, police said.

Police Officer David Kim of East Harlem's 23rd Precinct was on the N/Q/R platform at the Lexington Avenue-59th Street subway station at 5:50 p.m. when he heard someone scream, “someone please help me,” the NYPD said.

The officer ran over to find a 14-year-old girl, who pointed to 16-year-old she said had stolen her iPhone 6, police said.

As Kim tried to stop the older girl, she threatened to push the officer onto the tracks, the NYPD said.

Kim identified himself a police officer and called 911 before attempting to bring both girls to the token booth area, police said.

When they reached the staircase, the 16-year-old became combative and tried to run away, police said.

That's when Sgt. Son Cao, of the the Transit District 4 Anti-Crime Unit, and Police Officer Atik Hossain arrived in response to Kim’s call and took the teen into custody.

The 16-year-old, from Bed-Stuy, was charged with robbery and menacing, police said.

The iPhone was recovered.
