EAST VILLAGE — A developer is moving forward with plans for a new, multi-story, mixed use building in Alphabet City.

L+M Development Partners filed applications on Tuesday to demolish one-story storefronts at 79-89 Avenue D, where it plans to build a 12-story building, according to Department of Buildings records.

The building is expected to contain 88,671 square feet of residential space, including 110 dwelling units, records show, as well as a commercial area on the ground floor totaling 7,693 square feet. Amenities include private and common terraces for residents, as well as an exercise room and bike storage, according to the DOB’s website.

A spokesman for L+M Development Partners said the developer anticipates building mixed-income rentals.

The developer acquired the building for $12.5 million in May 2014, according to the Real Deal.

The last remaining tenant at 79-89 Avenue D, a Rite Aid, relocated a block north last week, according to EV Grieve. The other two storefronts include a long-vacated Laundromat and pizzeria, the blog wrote.
