BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that left a man dead in Bed-Stuy, police said.

Residents and relatives were having a family party at 539 Macon St. near Malcolm X Boulevard, late Saturday night through early Sunday morning when three uninvited people arrived and tried to make their way in around 3:30 a.m., according to 81st Precinct Commanding Officer Scott Henderson.

When they were denied entry, a dispute broke out and shots were fired, police said.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 29-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the hip, officials said. Both were taken to Kings County Hospital and listed in stable condition.

Steven Bell, who was one of the party-crashers, was shot in the neck by 25-year-old Mark Burgess, Henderson said.

Bell, 29, was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police had no further details on the shootings.

Burgess was arrested on Tuesday and faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a firearm. Attorney information was not immediately available.
