MIDTOWN — A pickup truck struck a Citi Bike rider in Midtown and then fled the scene, according to witnesses.

The truck veered toward the sidewalk and struck the cyclist from behind at 50th Street and Broadway, knocking him off his bike and injuring his right leg, witnesses added. The man was taken to Roosevelt Hospital at about 5:10 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said

“His right leg was pretty messed up too. He couldn't put weight on it and after standing up for a few seconds he sat down," said Bryant Mancebo, who was working at the corner as a tour guide. "It was a really fast thing."

The driver stopped at the corner for about 30 seconds and then “peeled off” when Mancebo approached him, the worker added.

"It was kind of shocking,” Mancebo said. "He definitely sped off."

Police did not have any immediate information on the incident.
