MANHATTAN — A taxi driver who struck a man walking in Chelsea told the victim "you don't own the streets" before fleeing the scene, police said.

The victim, from Long Island, was walking in front of 225 W. 23rd St., near Seventh Avenue, on Dec. 30 around noon when a driver in a 2014 Nissan yellow cab hit him with his passenger side mirror, the man told police.

After striking the man, whose age was not released, the driver told him, “You don’t own the streets” and sped off, according to police.

The pedestrian, whose left hand and back were injured in the collision, was taken to the Lenox Hill HealthPlex, authorities said.

Police could not say whether the pedestrian was on the sidewalk or the street when the driver hit him.

The case was still under investigation as of Thursday.
