EAST HARLEM — A restaurant on Park Avenue is doubling up as a TV studio for a restaurateur who rubs elbows with celebrity chefs Paula Dean, former Philadelphia Eagles cook Guy Mitchell and other boldface foodies.

Chef Eddie Gallagher, who runs events for the Food Network and produces a syndicated TV show called Coast 2 Coast, opened up Chef Eddie G’s Kitchen last month and has already hosted some of his friends.

“We’ve already filmed here,” Gallagher said. “We’ve had a chef from the White House here.”

The restaurant has an open kitchen so the diners — and cameras — can see everything that is happening in the kitchen. Going forward, Gallagher plans to tip off customers whenever a special guest comes to town through social media, he said.

“I have a bunch of celebrity chef friends so we’ll do wine dinners and filming,” he said.

The plan is to have people eating at the restaurant while they film and then have the customers be able to eat whatever the chefs prepare.

The restaurant opened in December and is already getting glowing reviews online. One YELP user called it “a great neighborhood spot.” Nine out of nine reviewers have given it 5 out of 5 stars so far.

Eddie G’s is a mix of tapas and steak. The menu is very straight forward with plates divided by price — $5 $10 $15 $20 — and meant to be shared among a group of people.

The early favorites have been the Mac & Cheese and the braised short rib, according to the chef.

Apart from hosting celebrity chef, Gallagher plans to have cooking classes in the restaurant as well. They would range from advance techniques to courses for beginners.

“Usually everybody can keep up with it,” he said. “The first one will probably be pasta making and then you eat it too.”
