EAST WILLIAMSBURG — A Brooklyn street gang attacked two men on New Year's Day, striking one victim with a luxury car and beating another man unconscious, authorities said.

It was unclear what prompted the violence, but police said that the attack by the Young Stackers Crew began just before 4 a.m. when member Carnel Alston, 18, jumped behind the wheel of a BMW and reversed onto the sidewalk in front of 160 Boreum St. hitting a 19-year-old man.

Alston, who was out on bail from an October arrest for possession of 48 bags of heroin, a 9mm handgun and 20 rounds of ammunition, then jumped out and punched him in the face, police said.

Meanwhile, four other street crew members Mathew Cabrera, 18, Malik Townsend, 17, Ocyrus Minto, 17, and Zabar Irick, 17, attacked the second victim, an 18-year-old, punching and kicking him repeatedly until he lost consciousness, according to police and prosecutors.

After he passed out, one of the men rifled his pockets and snatched $20, prosecutors said.

The victim was rushed to Woodhull Hospital and treated for a fractured cheek bone, bruised ribs and a slice across his chin that needed five stitches, according to police and prosecutors.

Three of the five suspects had no prior charges as part of their public record, though Minto pleaded guilty to possession of a loaded fire arm in September and was awaiting sentencing, records show.

All five men face a slew of charges from gang assault and robbery to harassment. They were being held at Rikers and due back in court on Wednesday.

Information about the lawyers representing them was not available immediately.
