VIDEO: Thieves Bear Hug Woman Walking Home With Groceries and Take Purse

BROOKLYN — Two young men raced up behind a woman carrying groceries through Bushwick and threw her to the ground before stealing her purse with $600 inside, police said.

The men, who can be seen in surveillance video released by police, wrapped the 45-year-old woman in a bear hug outside 289 Bleecker St., near Irving Avenue, about 7 p.m. on Dec. 27, NYPD officials said.

They took her purse, which held $600, and fled the scene, police said.

Both men are in their mid 20s and 5 feet 5 inches, police said. One wore a hoodie, sweatpants and black sneakers, police said. The other had long hair, a sweater with a logo on the front, a baseball cap, black sweatpants and white sneakers, police said.
