BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Beer store and wholesale distributor Bed Stuy Beer Works is closing up shop Tuesday and plans to move within the neighborhood and expand with an additional location in Bushwick, according to its manager.

The Willoughby Avenue retailer will be closed until further notice on Jan. 5, the beer shop announced in an email to customers and a posting on its website.

“The decision is somewhat involuntary and mutual with our landlord,” the announcement reads. “As our lease would have ended eventually without renewal, so we opted to move and transform our business.”

The distributor at 409 Willoughby Ave., at the corner of Walworth Street, opened in 2013 offering domestic, imported and craft beers, along with artisanal sodas.

Following the relocation and expansion, Bed Stuy Beer Works will no longer serve as a distributor, though it will continue operating as a “beer bottle shoppe," according to the business.

The new locations have yet to be confirmed, manager Adam Distler said.

Craft beer and specialty items will still be on the menu, as well as the business’ growler and draft-filling station and refrigerated to-go options.

The biggest change will be the addition of alcohol being served at the new sites, the announcement reads. Patrons will be able to buy their beer and have a drink and snacks are planned for the future.

“We are looking forward to our newer business! We are looking forward to continuing the love, interest and support for great beer. We look forward to interacting with you all more directly,” the posting read.

“For those of you who we upset with the news, we truly apologize. We couldn’t stay in a current form and location. We appreciate the love and support that we consistently received. We simply want to appreciate the love in a new environment."
