PORT RICHMOND — A man who swiped a necklace from his neighbor's girlfriend on Christmas Day was stabbed in the neck by the boyfriend, a law enforcement source said.

A 35-year-old woman and her boyfriend, Christian Venturo, 24, walked past their neighbor when they went into Venturo's Maple Terrace apartment at about 3:20 a.m., the source said.

Neighbor David Alfaro grabbed her necklace — worth less than $250 — and ripped it off her, prosecutors said.

Venturo then took out a small folding knife and stabbed Alfaro, 26, in the neck and chest, prosecutors said.

Alfaro was taken to a hospital and received stitches for his injuries, prosecutors said.

Venturo was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon at his arraignment, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

He was released without bail and had a temporary order of protection issued against him, according to online court records. He's due back in court on Feb. 4.

Venturo's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Alfaro was given a desk appearance ticket and charged with criminal mischief and harassment, the DA said.
