EAST HARLEM - The March death of a 75-year-old man has been classified as a homicide related to a stab wound he sustained in 1968, police said.
East Harlem resident Roy Evans died on March 21, 2015, after being admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital.
On Tuesday, the Medical Examiner's Office determined Evans died from complications related to the 1968 stabbing that damaged his torso and spinal cord, according to spokeswoman Julie Bolcer.
Evans' son told police that the family believes the stabbing happened at a bar that was once located at 78 W. 131st St. It is no longer open, police said.
An investigation into the stabbing is underway, police said.
Hypertension and diabetes also contributed to Evans' death, according to Bolcer.
