ASTORIA — She said yes — on someone else's dime.
Police in Queens are searching for a couple who used a fraudulent credit card to purchase an engagement ring and wedding band at an Astoria jewelry shop, according to the NYPD.
The pair entered the Zales store at 31-07 Steinway St. at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 and spent $5,200 on the bridal jewelry, charged to a credit card fraudulently obtained in the name of a 34-year-old man, police said.
A staffer at the store referred questions to Zales' corporate offices, which did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
Police released surveillance video from the scene, which shows the man and woman browsing the store's jewelry cases.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
