UPTOWN — New Year's Eve revelers can party all night — and well into the morning — in Inwood and parts of Washington Heights this year, thanks to two-dozen “all-night" permits granted to bars by the state.

The State Liquor Authority issued a whopping 24 permits to nightlife venues within the 34th Precinct to serve alcohol until 8 a.m. on New Year's Day, the most in the borough.

That number outpaced the bar-heavy 9th Precinct in the East Village, which counted 16 permits, as well as the Midtown North Precinct (13) and Midtown South Precinct (11), records show.

Twenty of the permits issued Uptown were for venues in Inwood, as compared to just four in Washington Heights.

By comparison, the 33rd Precinct in Washington Heights had only two all-night permits granted.

The SLA said it considers the disciplinary history of an establishment and whether the operator has adequate security plans in place before issuing all-night permits. It also requests proof that the applicant has notified local police.

“We opposed several 24-hour permits, based on where we had violence last New Year's Eve and where we have had recent violence,” said Deputy Inspector Chris Morello, commanding officer of the 34th Precinct, who declined to say which venues didn't make the cut. “But due to our very large volume of bars, nightclubs and restaurants, we still have a lot of 24-hour permits on New Year's Eve.”

The SLA, however, said it did not deny any of the applications it received in both the 34th and 33rd Precincts.

The two-dozen permits granted this year falls short of the number issued last year, when 32 venues were allowed to stay open until 8 a.m. in the 34th Precinct.

The influx of liquor licenses in Inwood alone led State Sen. Adriano Espaillat to unveil new legislation in October that would put a yearlong freeze on the granting of new licenses in the neighborhood. Community Board 12 voted to support the proposal in early December.
