EAST VILLAGE — Luxury home sales in the neighborhood have hit a five-year high — led by the sale of a condo for nearly $7 million earlier this year — mirroring a borough-wide trend, a recent real estate report said.

Although the overall number of home purchases dropped slightly over the past year, purchases of single-family homes, condos and co-op units worth more than $3 million nearly tripled in 2015, according to data crunched by real estate site PropertyShark.

There were 10 high-priced transactions in the East Village as of Dec. 15 this year, a significant jump from the three recorded in 2011, the report said.

The priciest home, at 238 E. Fourth St., sold for nearly $7 million in June, according to PropertyShark. The 6,500-square-foot residence, bought by sculptor Jen Lewin, is spread out over four floors and includes a private garage with paparazzi shield, a 770-square-foot garden with a gas fireplace and a master suite on the third floor, according to real estate blog 6sqft.

The growing number of luxury sales in the East Village follows an upward trend in pricey home transactions in Manhattan overall, which also saw an all-time high in 2015, PropertyShark found. As of Dec. 15 this year, there were 1,807 luxury sales in borough, up from 1,154 last year, according to the website’s data.

However, the number of home sales in the neighborhood fell about 23 percent in the past year, from 343 in 2014 to 265 in 2015. Median home sales in the East Village also fell slightly, from about $999,000 in 2014 to $958,000 this year, or a 4 percent decrease, the site said.
