BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Kick off the New Year in your own back yard by celebrating local in Bed-Stuy.

Several neighborhood spots are coming together for “Bed Stuy NYE 2016,” a campaign aimed at encouraging residents to stay close to home and support local businesses.

Bed-Vyne Brew, Bed-Vyne Cocktail, C’mon Everybody, Doris, Lover’s Rock, One Last Shag and Tree House BK will take part in the new initiative, which Bed-Vyne co-owner Rotimi Akinnuoye calls a “brilliant idea.”

“It’s the idea of people staying local, drinking and being able to walk from their house to these places. I think it’s safer and less expensive,” he said.

He joined other businesses in the collaboration thanks to the efforts of Lover's Rock co-owner Alex Escamilla, who spearheaded the campaign.

“Everyone is working together to have people stay in the area. They can save money and have a good time,” Akinnuoye added.

Each bar or restaurant will offer separate events and deals for New Year’s Eve, along with other neighborhood joints with their own celebrations:
