UPPER WEST SIDE — Bottoms up!

Bars on the Upper West Side ranked among the top 10 citywide for beer selection, with a handful of pubs earning high marks for styles of beer offered, largest menu and rarest brews, a new study found.

The analytics company Datascope surveyed 270 brewpubs, bars, restaurants, beer stores and breweries across the city that have posted their suds selections on Beermenus.com.

Upper West Side spots ranked among the top 10 on a host of lists, with Broadway Dive at 2662 Broadway and West 101st Street landing in the top four on each list.

For its variety of beers, Broadway Dive came in fourth in the city with 53 styles, falling just behind Fraunces Tavern in the Financial District, Adobe Blues in New Brighton and Top Hops Beer Shop on the Lower East Side.

The bar is part of the Dive Bar family, which was established in 1989, and has locations on West 75th Street near Columbus Avenue and on Amsterdam Avenue near West 96th Street.

Upper West Side spots Amsterdam Ale House at 340 Amsterdam Ave. at West 76th Street and Dive Bar NYC (part of the Dive Bar group) at 732 Amsterdam Ave. at West 96th Street also placed in the top 10 for having the largest variety of styles of beer. They each have 42 styles available, according to the report.

The average New York City bar has 21 styles of beer available, Datascope found.

Rare beers are defined "as ones that are only found at one bar in the entire city," Datascope said in its report.

The neighborhood did not score well overall when it came to price, which won't come as a surprise for anyone who's looked at recent real estate prices. Median beer prices were among the highest, at $8 a beer.

This summer, West End Hall opened with a selection of 66 beers, and another is expected to open this spring. craft beer shop and tasting room is also reportedly on its way.
