Man Shot in Check-Out Line of Grocery Store, NYPD Says

By Aidan Gardiner | December 22, 2015 8:50am

THE BRONX — A man was shot three times in the torso Monday when another man opened fire in the check-out aisle of a Longwood C-Town supermarket, police said.

The 21-year-old victim, whose name was not immediately released, was inside the supermarket at 564 Southern Blvd., near East 149th Street, about 11:54 a.m., when another man came in looking for him, an NYPD spokesman said.

Video shows the suspect talking to a couple people in the entryway, apparently asking for the 21-year-old, the police spokesman said.

The suspect then walks over to the cashier and opens fire, the video shows.

The 21-year-old was listed in stable condition at an area hospital, police said.

The suspect, who police believe is 20, fled the scene and was not immediately arrested.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
