QUEENS — Original Marines, an Italian store offering children and women’s clothes, is closing its location on Austin Street in Forest Hills only five months after opening.

In August, the boutique, at 71-27 Austin St., replaced a Benetton store that closed after roughly 30 years.

Original Marines did not immediately return an email seeking comment, but a clerk at the store said that it was not doing well and the location will close once all its merchandise is sold.

Several stores recently closed or are about to close on Austin Street, the main commercial strip of the neighborhood, known for its high rents.

In most cases, however, vacant spaces along the busy street are quickly replaced by other stores.

Strawberry, which closed in June will be replaced by Shake Shack next year, Target is taking over the space of Barnes & Noble, which is closing by the end of December, and Rove recently replaced Bonfire Grill, which closed in February.
