BROOKLYN — A 93-year-old woman died after a fire tore through her third-story Bay Ridge apartment Tuesday morning, police said.
The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was inside her home at 434 79th St., near Fourth Avenue, about 1:34 a.m., when the fire started, NYPD officials said.

About 60 firefighters brought the flames under control by 2:10 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.
After locating the woman, she was taken to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Fire marshals will determine what sparked the blaze, officials said.
