BROOKLYN — A Catholic school in Bay Ridge was temporarily evacuated Monday morning when the sewer pipes clogged and the building filled it with noxious gas, FDNY officials said.

Holy Angels Catholic Academy, 337 74th St., near Third Avenue, was emptied after the gas built up about 10 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

Some people were taken to area hospitals as a precaution, officials said.

An FDNY spokesman said he did not know what had clogged the pipes.

The school serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, according to its website.

A woman who answered the phone at the school denied that anyone had been taken to the hospital or that there had been any leak at all.
