LOWER EAST SIDE — A thief mugged a 34-year-old man as he walked into an apartment building last week, police said.

The suspect hit the victim on the right side of the head at 2 a.m. on Dec. 13 at 95 Pitt St., police said, causing his head to bleed and swell. Then, while the 34-year-old was on the ground, the thief grabbed the man’s wallet — along with $30 in cash, his ID and credit and debit cards — from his left back pocket, according to the NYPD.

Police said the thief was 6-foot-1.

Other recent crimes in the 7th Precinct include:

► A man kicked a 77-year-old woman in the chest and stole her bag — which contained a bathing suit, swim cap, slippers and eyeglasses — at about 6 a.m. on Dec. 9 in front of 275 Cherry St., police said.

The man fled northbound on Cherry Street on a bicycle, said police, who described the suspect as a 5-foot-6 man who was about 27 years old and weighed 180 pounds.

The woman refused medical attention when police arrived at the scene, according to the NYPD.

► A thief struck a 57-year-old man in the head and then stole the $300 in cash as well as the victim’s military ID in a 10th floor hallway of the Gompers Houses at 60 Pitt St. on Dec. 13 around 1 a.m., police said. The victim was taken to a hospital, according to the NYPD.
