SUNSET PARK — A man who died after being found bleeding from the head in Sunset Park earlier this fall may have been murdered, police said Wednesday.

Sammy Garcia, 25, was found unconscious and bleeding at 5 a.m. on Oct. 26 in the single-room occupancy on 61st Street in Sunset Park where he lived, according to police.

He was transported to Lutheran Medical Center where he died 10 days later, police said.

Following an investigation by the Medical Examiner's Office, Garcia's death is now being investigated as a homicide, police said Wednesday.

A man who was listed at the same address as the victim, 47-year-old Juan Zicay, was arrested on Oct. 27 on assault charges.

Police did not say whether or not Zicay had been charged with murder since the case was reclassified.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office will determine whether charges will be upgraded after reviewing the ME's report.
