WEST VILLAGE — A serial subway groper who most recently assaulted a 13-year-old girl while she sat next to her mom on a 1 train at Christopher Street the day before Thanksgiving has been arrested, police said.

Jesus Ayala, 60, was sitting next to the teen and her mother on a subway car at the Christopher Street 1 station about 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 25, when he started rubbing his hand on the girl's thigh.

The girl and her mother got off the train, police said, but not before the girl's mother snapped a photo of Ayala, which she later provided to police.

Ayala was arrested a few hours later, about 4 a.m. on Nov. 26, when he pulled down his pants and masturbated in front of a token booth clerk at the 28th Street 1 station, police said.

An officer matched Ayala to the photo taken by the girl's mother, police said.

Ayala was arrested and charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse in the second degree for the incident with the girl, and public lewdness and exposing himself for the incident in the 28th Street station.

Prosecutors and police also linked Ayala to three similar incidents dating back to 2013.

On June 11, 2015, about 2:30 p.m., Ayala used his elbow to rub a woman's breasts in a southbound 4 train traveling between the 14th Street station and Wall Street. The victim told a detective with the Brooklyn Robbery Squad that Ayala's hand was under a black backpack on his lap and that the backpack was moving up and down, police said.

And on Nov. 3, 2015, about 11:30 p.m., Ayala was in a car on a northbound 1 train between 59th Street and 72nd Street when he used his elbow to touch a woman's upper thigh, police said.

Police said the woman told an officer that Ayala used his elbow to rub her hip area, both below and above her hipbone, and that while he was rubbing her with his elbow, he had his right hand underneath a black backpack in his lap.

On March 29, 2013, about 9:30 a.m., police said that Ayala was on a northbound 2 train traveling from the Nevins Street station in Brooklyn to 34th Street in Manhattan, when he groped a woman's upper thigh, and used his elbow and upper arm to touch her breast.

Ayala was charged with three counts of forcible touching and three counts of sexual abuse in the third degree for those incidents. The district attorney's office asked a judge to hold Ayala on $50,000 bail, but the judge set his bail at $2,500.

Ayala is due back in court for all charges on Dec. 17. He is currently being held on bail of $2,000 cash or $3,500 bond. His lawyers did not immediately return voicemails requesting comment.
