MIDTOWN — A group of passengers attacked and robbed a cab driver of more than $1,100 worth of his goods last weekend, police said.

The 44-year-old cabbie picked up two men and a woman in front of 1166 Sixth Ave. at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, when they “became very loud and unruly,” the driver told police.

The driver made a right turn heading east on West 46th Street but then decided to stop the taxi for an unknown reason.

At that point, one of the male passengers got out of the cab, opened the driver’s door and punched him multiple times, according to police.

During the attack, another rider opened the passenger-side door and took the driver’s phone and backpack, police said.

The trio then fled on foot as the driver tried to chase them down, throwing the cabbie's phone in the process, police said.

The suspects managed to snatch a white-gold diamond ring worth $500, a Galaxy Note 3 valued at $300, the driver’s $20 black Northface backpack and $300 worth of books and maps, police said.

The driver was treated for his injuries at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The suspects have not been caught, police said.
