Mercedes Zipcar Stolen From Garage Using Stolen Credit Card, Police Say

BATTERY PARK CITY — A Mercedes-Benz Zipcar was stolen from a parking garage by a thief using a bogus account, police said.

The black 2015 Mercedes GLK, a jeep worth about $40,00, was taken on Dec. 4 from a garage at 225 Rector Place at about 2 p.m. using an account created with a stolen credit card, police said.

A tracker on the car last located the vehicle in Long Island, but the car still has not been recovered, according to police.

Zipcar did not immediately return request for comment.

The garage did not immediately return request for comment.

Police have previously noted a pattern of Zipcar thefts in Lower Manhattan.
