QUEENS — A driver died and his passenger was critically injured after he lost control of his car and crashed in Sunnyside Sunday night, police said.
Jorge Bermudez, 30, was driving his Honda Accord west on Laurel Hill Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. when he lost control near 48th Street and slammed into a cement stanchion and parked car, NYPD officials said.
Bermudez, of Maspeth, was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital, police said.
His passenger, a 30-year-old man whose name was not immediately released, was listed in critical condition at the same hospital, police said.
