EAST WILLIAMSBURG — A burglar wearing a ski mask was caught red-handed by police officers, fleeing a warehouse, where the locks had been cut using a bolt cutter and a crowbar, police said.

Police Officer Kenneth Harris saw Rusmaldo Faccio, 55, jumping the fence at Fung Trading Group, located at 108 Varick Ave., after he noticed that multiple locks had been cut and security chains hanging from the doors at 2:20 a.m. on Nov. 25, police and prosecutors said.

Harris caught up with Faccio, who was wearing gloves and a ski mask and carrying a flashlight, around the corner, prosecutors said.

Faccio struggled with officers, but was eventually cuffed, police said.

Officers on scene later recovered a bolt cutter and a crow bar near the warehouse facility and found multiple cut locks on the premises, police said.

Faccio plead guilty to criminal mischief in the fourth degree and is being held at Rikers Island for between 91 days and six months, according to the District Attorney's office.

Faccio's lawyer could not be reached immediately for comment. Wholesaler Fung Trading Group didn't respond to a request for comment.
