THE BRONX — A Bronx comedian could soon be starring in an NBC sitcom, and locals are filled with ideas about what aspects of the borough his show should focus on.

Comic Vladimir Caamaño is developing a pilot for the Peacock Network for “Vlad,” a family comedy inspired by his real-life family that focuses on him living in The Bronx with his Dominican older brother and father.

Residents of the borough were excited about Caamaño’s break and offered him plenty of suggestions about how to make his show a success.

Bronxite Buddy Orange, 57, said he hopes the show focuses on the diversity of the borough by showcasing several of its different neighborhoods and moving past the stereotypes of the South Bronx.

He also hoped to see "Vlad" include some social commentary about issues facing the borough such as gentrification.

“He’s doing a comedy show, so maybe this is too political," Orange said, "but The Bronx is the last bastion of affordability in the five boroughs."

"Vlad" will be a half-hour multi-camera comedy that Caamaño will write, star in and executive produce with Bill Lawrence, Adam Sztykiel and Jeff Ingold.

Anthony Holimon, who works as a cook in the borough, encouraged Caamaño not to whitewash the experience of living in The Bronx and said that he would have plenty of material to draw from.

“You could catch a lot of funny people walking down the block, catch weirdos,” he said. “You see funny stuff happen here every day.”

Caamaño declined to speak for this article.
