FINANCIAL DISTRICT —  A cook was hit in the head with a knife sharpener before being slashed with a knife during a heated kitchen argument at 225 Bistro, police said.

Two cooks at the 225 Broadway fast-casual restaurant got into a fight on Nov. 19 over the food, according to a police report, and one of the men, Ramil Gaynullin, became violent.

Gaynullin, 46, hit the other cook, 30, over the head with a knife sharpener at about 1 p.m., which left him with swelling and a cut. Gaynullin then slashed the man's leg with a knife, according to a complaint from the Manhattan DA's office.

Gaynullin was charged with second-degree assault.

A manager at the restaurant, Raymond Chelik said Gaynullin had only been working at the restaurant for a couple of weeks.

The other cook is already back to work.

"He's OK," said Chelik. "I don't really know what happened, some kind of argument went to far, maybe it was the heat of the kitchen."

When asked about Gaynullin's status at the restaurant, he said "Well, he's gone, maybe in jail or something so that's it."

Gaynullin's Legal Aid attorney did not immediately return request for comment.

He's due back in court on Dec. 4. Gaynullin is being held on a $3,000 cash/$6,000 bond bail.
