UPPER EAST SIDE — Two men robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint on East 78th Street near Madison Avenue over the weekend, according to the NYPD.

The suspects walked past a yellow cab parked in front of 25 E. 78th St., near Madison Avenue, early Sunday morning at 4:05 a.m., and glanced over at the driver, who appeared to be sitting inside with his door open, according to a video released by police.

The suspects continued walking for a few steps, then one of them turned back and once again looked inside the cab. He returned to his companion, then pulled what appeared to be a gun out of his right pocket, ran back to the cab, and snatched $160 in cash, according to police and surveillance footage.

Police didn't have information on what type of firearm was used or what was said during the incident.

Police said the suspect who robbed the driver is 25 years old, stands 5-foot-7 and weighs roughly 140 pounds.
