BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Ring in the holidays in Bedford-Stuyvesant this week with a music-filled, tree lighting celebration.

Bed-Stuy’s annual festivities will take place on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.

The Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement District hosts a “Gospel, R&B Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony” at Restoration’s West Plaza, featuring singer Jeff Redd, DJ Hard Hittin Harry and entertainment from neighborhood churches.

“The ceremony is a way for us to say thank you to our community for making Bed-Stuy one of the greatest communities in the world to live, work, shop, and play,” said Michael Lambert, executive director for the Bed-Stuy Gateway BID.

“We are also becoming a mecca for arts, culture and tourism and we want to celebrate that as well.”

The free event includes performances from the Hanifah Youth Choir of Bridge Street AME Church, the Antioch Baptist Church Adult Choir, and the Youth Arts Academy of the Center for Arts and Culture at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.

Attendees can celebrate the lighting of this year’s 24-foot-tall tree, and local vendors will provide holiday treats, giveaways, and photos with Santa.

The festivities are held in collaboration with Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the NYC Department of Small Business Services, Councilman Robert Cornegy, and other sponsors.
