Man Dies After Ridgewood Bar Fight, Police Say

By Aidan Gardiner | December 1, 2015 9:34am

QUEENS — A man died two weeks after he was critically injured in a Ridgewood bar fight, police said.

Krzyszlot Zmitrowicz, 35, and another man were in a bar near Fresh Pond Road at Linden Street about 4:30 a.m. Nov. 15, when they got into a dispute with Pawel Garwarski, 26, an NYPD spokesman said.

The three took the fight outside where Garwarski started punching the other two, police said.

Zmitrowicz, who lived nearby on Woodward Avenue, fell and hit his head, suffering severe injuries, police said.

He was listed in critical condition at Elmhurst Hospital until Sunday about noon, when he died, NYPD officials said.

The other man who was attacked suffered cuts to his lip and nose, police said.

Garwarski, who lives nearby on Madison Street, was arrested the day after the fight on assault charges, police said.

Prosecutors will determine whether to upgrade the charges against Garwarski, police said.

Garwarski was arrested for driving while intoxicated in November 2012, an NYPD spokesman said.
