MIDTOWN — A gunman knocked over a Midtown bank on Friday, days after a failed attempt to rob another bank nearby, according to the NYPD.
The suspect first struck on Nov. 17, strolling into the Valley National Bank at 100 Park Ave. near East 40th Street at 9 a.m., where he threatened the teller with a gun and demanded cash, police said.
But the teller refused and the robber left empty-handed, according to a police.
The robber surfaced again just before noon on Friday, pulling a gun at the Chase Bank at 2 Park Ave. South near East 33rd Street, and demanding cash, police said.
This time the teller complied, handing over an undetermined amount of money, and the robber fled with cash in hand, police said.
There were no injuries in either robbery, according to authorities.
Police described the suspect as standing 5-foot-7 and weighing roughly 140 pounds.
