SOUTH BRONX — A cab driver was attacked and robbed by three people after his passenger tried to leave the car without paying her fare, according to the NYPD.

The female passenger got out of the cab in front of 858 Freeman St. on Friday around 10:20 a.m. without paying, and when her 54-year-old cab driver got out as well and approached her, she punched him in the face, police said.

Two men then came up to him and started punching and kicking him as well. They snatched his Nokia cellphone, valued at about $200, and fled down Chisholm Street with the cab's passenger, according to police.

The driver suffered a cut on his lip but refused medical attention, police said.

Officers described the suspects as a woman in her mid-20s with short black hair, a gray jacket and red pants, a 32-year-old man in a black T-shirt and black sweatpants who weighs 180 pounds and stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and a slim 38- to 40-year-old man in a black jacket and blue jeans who stands 6 feet, 1 inch tall.
