FORT WADSWORTH — Sections of the upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will close overnights on Thursday and Friday as part of the MTA's construction work.
On Thursday, the upper level of the Brooklyn-bound side of the bridge will close from from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the Brooklyn-bound Belt Parkway exit ramp will close from 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. Friday as workers install new steel.
The work is part of the $84.3 million project to build a new bus/HOV ramp and reconstruct the bridge's Belt Parkway approach ramps, the MTA said.
Drivers who need the exit ramp to Belt Parkway will be detoured onto 92nd Street and eventually back to the highway, the MTA said.
The construction will be canceled if it rains, the MTA said.
