CHELSEA — A man's $8,000 Rolex went missing after he fell asleep while letting a "stranger" he'd met on the street "charge [her] phone" in his apartment, police said.

The Chelsea man who lives on West 22nd Street reported the theft on Oct. 15, two days after the incident, after thoroughly searching for the missing watch, police said.

On Oct. 13 around midnight, the 31-year-old man met a woman in the street and allowed her to come back to his apartment so she could charge her phone, he told police.

The man took off his Submariner Rolex and drifted off to sleep soon after, while the woman was still in the apartment, police said.

Later the man realized the watch was missing and searched his apartment to no avail. It hadn't been recovered as of Thursday and no arrests had been made in the theft.
