MANHATTAN — New York City marathon volunteer who sold finishers medals on eBay for $90 a piece will no longer be allowed to volunteer with the New York Road Runners, sources said Thursday.

Elyce Rivera, of New Jersey, volunteered in Central Park near the finish line of the New York City Marathon on Nov. 1. A few days after the race she began selling medals on eBay.

The medals were taken down shortly after DNAinfo reported the story. She had also sold medals from the Half-Marathon.

“We concluded our review of the circumstances around the online sale of a number of 2015 TCS New York City Marathon finishers medals by one individual and have determined an appropriate course of action,” spokesman Chris Weiller said.

Weiller declined to elaborate on the details of what the appropriate course of action is, only saying no criminal charges will be filed.

The spokesman previously told Runner's World that NYRR would ban the person selling the medals from future events, according to their website.

A source familiar with the investigation said Rivera will be barred from volunteering at NYRR events. The investigation cast doubt on Rivera’s explanation of how she obtained the medals, according to the source.

Rivera, who has since deleted her eBay account, did not immediately respond to a voicemail.
