YORKVILLE — A husband and wife are planning to demolish a townhouse on East 81st Street and replace it with a six-story apartment building, according to city records.

Edward and Anastasia Kehoe, who purchased the building for $3.2 million in August 2012, got the city's Department of Buildings approval on Nov. 5 to knock down the three-story townhouse, Department of Buildings records show.

Kehoe, who is a partner at King & Spalding International Arbitration practice, did not return requests for comment.

The interior of the red town house at 316 E. 81st St. featured magenta and purple carpets, velveteen furniture, black whirlpool tubs and a stone wall, before it was purchased, according to Curbed.

A brand new six-story, 60-foot-tall apartment building will be put in its place — each floor will have one apartment and its roof will offer a private terrace, according to the plans filed Nov. 10.

Issac & Stern Architects will design the building. The company did not return requests for comment.

The plans are still pending approval from the DOB.
