TRIBECA — A "pixelated plane" is landing in TriBeCa.

Artist Mike Whiting's large, steel sculpture, called "Untitled (Plane)" will soon be installed in Finn Square, a small, triangular greenspace where Franklin Street intersects with Varick Street and West Broadway.

The 6-and-a-half foot tall artwork is a play on the pixelated forms in early video games, said Tracy Causey-Jeffery, who spoke on behalf of the sculptor at a Community Board 1 meeting Monday night.

"If you think it looks like a pixelated plane, that's exactly what it is," said Causey-Jeffery.

Whiting's early video games forms have been displayed publicly in several other cities, including Denver and Albuquerque.

"Plane" will be on display will for about nine months, Causey-Jeffery said.
