QUEENS — Police arrested a 15-year-old and a man, both from New Jersey, who had an air gun stashed under the seat of a stolen car they parked in Rego Park last Friday.
The 23-year-old man from Irvington, NJ, and the teen from Somerville, NJ, parked the stolen 1997 Ford at a fire hydrant near the intersection of Saunders Street and 64th Road on Friday, Nov. 13.
Police officers from the 112th Precinct’s Special Operations unit noticed the vehicle around 4:30 p.m. They also saw a man in the passenger seat who appeared to be sleeping with the seat reclined, police said.
The officers checked the license plate and discovered that the car was reported stolen in New Jersey.
As they were running the plate, another man walked up to the vehicle with the car keys.
Officers then searched the car and found the air pistol under the seat as well as few GPS devices, sources said.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with grand larceny, unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
