LOWER MANHATTAN — Attention discount shoppers: Target is opening in Lower Manhattan next year.
The big box retailer plans to open at 255 Greenwich St. in October 2016, the company announced Thursday.
The store will be opening in a two-level, 48,242-square-foot space, according to the Commercial Observer. It will be Target's second location in Manhattan. The chain also has an East Harlem storefront.
The Lower Manhattan location will be a little different from the one uptown.
It will be a "flexible format" shop, catering to an urban audience, with "locally-relevant" items like furniture made for smaller spaces and packaging that's more commuter friendly, Target said in a press release that can be viewed on Tribeca Citizen. Those items include a single roll of paper towels instead of a 12-pack.
The retailer's upcoming Greenwich Street space sits steps from the World Trade Center complex.
