BATTERY PARK CITY —  A canopy of 650 colorful lanterns will soon be glowing in Brookfield Place.

Starting Dec. 2, the holiday light installation, called "Luminaries," will be strung from the pitched glass ceiling of the Winter Garden Atrium at 230 Vesey St.

Each of the LED-embedded lanterns will glimmer with a variety of hues, Arts Brookfield said.

The interactive component revolves around three "wishing stations" inside the pavilion. By touching the stations, which are something like glowing wishing wells, visitors will send a pulse of color — or a "wish" — throughout the lanterns.

Every time someone uses the "wishing station," Arts Brookfield will donate $1 (up to $25,000) to the GRAMMY Foundation to support its GRAMMY in the Schools music education programs for high school students.

The exhibit will also feature light shows every two hours, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m., daily.

"Luminaries," created by design firm the Rockwell Group, will be shining everyday from Dec. 2 through Jan. 10.
