MIDTOWN — A squabble for "Fight Club" actor Jared Leto's autograph between friends ended in fisticuffs, police said.

The star-struck autograph hounds were waiting behind the police barricade outside the MoMA at 11 W. 53rd St. where the Wall Street Journal was hosting its celebrity-studded Innovator Awards on Nov. 4, police said.

When the "Dallas Buyers Club" co-star passed anxious fans on the red carpet roughly 8:15 p.m., a 41-year-old man and his 20-year-old friend started bickering over the autograph, police said.

The struggle turned physical and the younger man, who his friends called Richie, punched the older man in the face, giving him a black eye, police said.

The victim and another friend turned up at the Midtown North Precinct later to report the incident, police said. The victim's friend, who had witnessed the incident, told police that Richie has a violent streak.

"Richie is a street thug," the man told police.

No arrests have been made in the incident.
