QUEENS — An unidentified man was found dead in Forest Park on Friday, police said.

Officials said the man was discovered unconscious and unresponsive around 10 p.m. on Nov. 6. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no documents on his body, and the man had not been identified as of Monday morning, police said.

Police sources said the death does not appear to be suspicious and that the man may have been homeless.

The Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of death, according to authorities.

Medical Examiner spokeswoman Julie Bolcer said Monday that "the cause and manner of death are pending further studies."

It was not immediately clear where in the park the body was found.

The 500-acre green space is popular among bicyclists and joggers, but has seen its share of violence in recent years.

A string of sexual assaults in the area rattled local parkgoers over the past couple of years. In June, a homeless man was arrested in connection with the death of a 23-year-old Queens resident who police said was beaten to death in the park.

Several officers have been assigned to monitor the park seven days a week.
