BOERUM HILL — A high-end menswear shop has opened on Smith Street with fashion, home goods, accessories and products that cater to a "masculine lifestyle."

"We're trying to curate a masculine lifestyle," Modern Anothology co-owner John Marsala said. "We look for a timeless integrity ... with a little bit of a sense of humor."

If Wes Anderson had a retail shop, it would look like Modern Anthology, Marsala said.

From clothing and footwear, grooming and skin care collections, Modern Anthology offers a range of merchandise that's carefully selected by its owners, Marsala and Becka Citron.

They also sell vintage pieces of furniture and home supplies such as bedding, light fixtures and wall art.

The shop even carries a playful selection of children's toys and decor that might appeal to adults as well, like mini wooden cars, paper mache mounts of animal heads and Eames house blocks

The duo, both of whom are designers, opened the first Modern Anothology store after meeting while working for television shows on HGTV and the DIY network.

The shop opened its 1,600 square-foot shop at 123 Smith St., between Pacific and Dean streets this week. This is the store's second location after opening in DUMBO in 2010.

Marsala and Citron were originally looking at Williamsburg for their second location but eventually settled on Smith Street, where they're “hoping to very much be a neighborhood shop.”
