QUEENS — The Forest Hills police precinct is warning residents about leaving their garage door open in the wake of three burglaries reported in the area last week.
In all three cases, which took place within the affluent Forest Hills Gardens, burglars stole items from garages that were left unlocked, authorities said.
In two instances, the thieves stole bicycles and in the third one, they stole tools.
The 112th Precinct tweeted about the trend on Sunday asking residents to lock their garage doors.

Some residents, who belong to an online neighborhood group, voiced their concerns about the recent thefts, which occurred between Kessel Street and Metropolitan Avenue.
One of the group members said that her garage was also burglarized in the past on two separate occasions, although the thieves used a remote-control garage door opener to get inside and steal her bikes.
At least two other group members said thieves recently rummaged through their cars, which had been left unlocked.
