Weekend Service Changes to Disrupt 11 Subway Lines

NEW YORK CITY — As you make plans to celebrate Halloween or cheer for marathoners, keep those subway service changes in mind. The MTA will be working on 11 lines this weekend.

Here's a breakdown of the service changes:

1 Line
1 train will be suspended in both directions between 14th Street and South Ferry from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. You can hop on a 4, 5, A, C, R train and free shuttle buses instead. The free shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Chambers Street and South Ferry.

2 Line
2 trains will run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street-Penn Station from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

3 Line
3 trains will skip Rockaway Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in both directions at all times until late December 2015. You can use free shuttle buses instead.

For service to and from Rockaway Avenue, use shuttle buses to or from the Saratoga Avenue station at all times. B60 riders can transfer to and from shuttle buses at Rockaway Avenue.

For service to and from Van Siclen Avenue, use shuttle buses to or from the Pennsylvania Avenue station at all times. Free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

3 trains will also run local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street-Penn Station from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday.

4 Line
4 trains will skip Rockaway Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in both directions at all times until late December 2015.

6 Line
Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall-bound 6 trains will run express from Parkchester to 3rd Avenue-138th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

A Line
Far Rockaway and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 80th Street at all times until winter 2016.
For service to this station, take a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to 88th Street and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For service from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to Grant Avenue and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

Far Rockaway and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will also skip 111th Street at all times until winter 2016. 

For service to this station, take the Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train to Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train.

For Service from this station, use the Q112 bus, days and evenings. You can also take a Brooklyn-bound A train to 104th Street and transfer to a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A train.

A trains will be rerouted via the F line in both directions between West 4th Street-Washington Square and Jay Street-MetroTech from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

A trains will run local in both directions between West 4th Street-Washington Square and 59th Street-Columbus Circle from 12:01 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Brooklyn-bound A trains will run express from 168th Street to 125th Street from 11:45 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains will skip 104th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

C Line
C trains will be rerouted via the F line in both directions between Jay Street-MetroTech and West 4th Street-Washington Square from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Brooklyn-bound C trains will run express from 168th Street to 125th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

E Line
E trains will run local in both directions in Queens from 5:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday.

F Line
Jamaica-179th Street-bound F trains will skip Ditmas Avenue at all times until Fall 2015.

For service to this station, take the Jamaica-179th Street-bound F train to Church Avenue and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound F train.

For service from this station, take a Coney Island-bound F train to 18th Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica-179th Street-bound F train.

Jamaica-179th Street-bound F trains will skip Avenue X at all times until Winter 2015.

For service to this station, take a Jamaica-bound F train to Avenue U and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound train.

For service from this station, take a Coney Island- Stillwell Avenue-bound F train to Neptune Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica-179th Street-bound F train.

F trains will be suspended in both directions between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Kings Highway from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will operate between Kings Highway and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, stopping at Avenue U, Avenue X, Neptune Avenue, and West 8th Street.  
Transfer between F trains and free shuttle buses at Kings Highway. Consider using a D,N, or Q train between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and Downtown Brooklyn or Manhattan.

F trains will run local in both directions in Queens from 12:01 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

L Line
L trains will skip Atlantic Avenue in both directions at all times until winter 2016.

For service to and from this station, use free shuttle buses to and from the Broadway Junction station at all times.

L trains will be suspended in both directions between Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues from 11:30 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. You can hop on free express and local shuttle buses or an A, C or J train to get to the skipped stations.

Free local shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Rockaway Parkway and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues, stopping at East 105th Street, New Lots Avenue, Livonia Avenue, Sutter Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, Broadway Junction, Bushwick Avenue, Wilson Avenue and Halsey Street.

Free express shuttle buses will serve Rockaway Parkway, Broadway Junction and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues only. Transfer between free shuttle buses and L trains at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues.

To and from Manhattan, consider taking an A, C or J train via transfers between trains and shuttle buses at Broadway Junction.

S Line
The Rockaway Park shuttle will be suspended from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Rockaway Park and the Beach 67th Street A train station, stopping at Beach 105th Street, Beach 98th Street and Beach 90th Street. Transfer between free shuttle buses and A trains at Beach 67th Street.

The Franklin Avenue shuttle will run every 24 minutes from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.
