QUEENS — Even Halloween can be a time to network.

Aside from the belly dancer, burlesque and body painter, The Masquerade, a Saturday night event at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, will also be a networking opportunity and a way to support local artists, organizers said.

The fundraising event will offer cocktails, a Thai and Japanese buffet, as well as live performances by artists, including body-painter Shenna Vaughn.

The line-up also includes Vissi Dance Theater, belly dancer Cashel Campbell and Mem Nahadr, a multi-octave vocalist known as “M."

Guests are encouraged to wear costumes. Masks will also be available at the door, the organizers said.

In the future, the organizers are hoping to hold artistic evenings on a regular basis in an effort “to bring nightlife to the Jamaica area,” said Courtney French of the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, who co-organized the event along with a group of artists.

French said he believes the extra foot traffic from the events will also help local businesses.

“We don’t have enough lounges and clubs, but we have art,” he noted.

Admission is $50. The Jamaica Performing Arts Center is located at 153-10 Jamaica Ave. The Masquerade will take place this Saturday, from 7 to 11 p.m. To purchase tickets go here.
