TRIBECA — Let's go Mets pets!
Rescue dogs suited up in Mets gear Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the team's first World Series bid in 15 years — and to bring attention to pet adoption.
A variety of dogs, most of which are looking for a home, gathered in TriBeCa, along Broadway near City Hall, for what organizers called the first "World Series Puppy Parade".
This sweet 2-year-old pup, Dolly, is a Mets fan, and is up for adoption.
The pups only strutted their stuff for a couple of blocks, but organizers said that was enough to get their message across — dogs looking for a home were coming out to help root for the home team.
Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, a pet rescue organization, and Suffolk County SPCA co-sponsored the parade.
"We really want to raise awareness about all the dogs in New York City that need a home," said Jackie O'Sullivan, a co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. "This just seemed like a fun way to get the word out."
The parade was also supported by a new TriBeCa-based pet shelter, Shelter Chic, which recently opened at 79 Chambers St.
